Cara Delevingne isn't slowing down on the acting gigs. The model-turned-actress' new on-screen venture is a role opposite Orlando Bloom in Carnival Row, an upcoming series on Amazon. The project hasn't started filming yet, but it's slated for a 2019 release.

Carnival Row will be an eight-part fantasy-noir drama featuring 'mythical creatures who have fled their war-torn homeland and gathered in the city as tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population,' The Hollywood Reporter describes.

Bloom will portray Rycroft Philostrate, a police inspector investigating a murder of a showgirl faerie, one of the many unsolved murders threatening peace in the city. Meanwhile, Delevingne will play Vignette Stonemoss, a 'faerish refugee' with big secrets who experiences prejudice against her kind. The show will be run by Rene Echevarria (Castle, Star Trek: The Next Generation), Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim), and Paul McGuigan (Push, Victor Frankenstein), who's also directing.

The project sounds like a switch in gears for Delevingne, who recently starred in sci-fi and action movies like Suicide Squad and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. But she will be in a few dramas before the show premieres. One of her upcoming films is the ultra-steamy Tulip Fever, starring Alicia Vikander and her Valerian costar Dane Dehaan; and she's also currently filming Life in a Year opposite Jaden Smith.
