With the ability to touch hearts across the world, an unforgettable cockney lilt and laugh, and a sense of humour so down-to-earth it has you thinking you could be best friends with the star, it comes as no surprise Adele is rumoured to be in talks to star as waitress Nancy in a remake of the hit 1968 musical, Oliver!.

The Sun reports the 28-year-old Oscar, Grammy and Brit Award winner has been approached by film executives to star as the 'It's A Fine Life' singer.

A source told the website the 29-year-old was keen to star in the iconic role, saying: 'It would be a major part for her and she's seriously considering it.

'She's talked about Angelo being her number one priority and she sees this as a role that he could appreciate too,' they added.

The role - first played by actress Shani Wallis - would follow the star's 121 date tour over 25 months, at the end of which she was forced to cancel the final two shows due to illness.

The Daily Mail reports West End legend Sir Cameron Mackintosh of Les Miserables fame will produce the new film, which would be Adele's first acting role.

The acting part would certainly make of a different career path for Adele, given the fact she recently revealed she'd taken to selling handmaid pom poms on Etsy to fulfil a new passion.

With one Oscar award down for Best Original Song for James Bond's 'Skyfall' in 2013, we wouldn't be surprised if a golden acting gong was on the horizon for the Tottenham-born star.

However, following her Oscar win she did tell the press, 'it's not really my kind of thing, a musical, no offence' when questioned about a potential Tony Award-win in the future.

From the sounds of it, it appears Adele might be having a change of heart.

All together now, Oom-Pah-Pah, Oom-Pah-Pah...
