Turner Prize-winning artist Gillian Wearing has designed the new icon, which will soon grace the flagstones in Westminster.
And it appears we weren't the only ones to be overjoyed, if Emma Watson's latest tweet is anything to go by.
Over the weekend, London mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted his delight as a 'proud feminist' to announce London was welcoming its first ever female statue.
In response, the 27-year-old actress retweeted Khan's message and wrote: 'About time too'. The reply has since received over 800 'likes'.

Watson was one of several women - including JK Rowling, Caitlin Moran, and Stella Creasy -who urged the Mayor of London to put a statue of a suffragette outside parliament via an open letter written by Caroline Criado-Perez.
Campaigner Criado-Perez was the mastermind behind getting novelist Jane Austen on the new £10 note, launched last month.
While there might have been some disgruntled members of the public who suggested original drawings of the casting of suffragette Emily Wilding Davidson looked as if she was holding up clothes to a washing line, we for one can't wait to see the statue.
Fawcett's casting will join 11 men including Winston Churchill and Nelson Mandela.
And yes, it's about bloody time.
