Beehive, listen up, because we have a feeling Beyoncé might be making her comeback by collaborating on new music with one of this year's most in-demand and chart-topping stars, Cardi B.

Earlier this week, rapper engineer Michael Ashby - who worked with Cardi on her history-making hit 'Bodak Yellow' - shared a photograph of a file featuring the names of Queen B and the rapper and the word 'demo.'

'Wow this feature is big,' he teased the pair's fans, suggesting the music stars are making sweet sweet music together.

To be fair, the collaboration would make a lot of sense, seeing as the musical pair have been spotted bumping into each other at numerous events this summer.

Last month, the rapper met the mother-of-three for the first time at the 2017 Made in America Festival, where they posed for pictures together.

Cards later shared the snap of her standing alongside her musical icon, with the caption: 'B*tch I met Beyoncé!!!!!!!!!!!!'

BITCH I met Beyoncé Bitch !!!!!!!!!!!!

The New Yorker also performed at the TIDAL X: Brooklyn charity concert in the Big Apple, which was organised by the Lemonade singer's husband, JAY-Z.

The chart-topper recently opened up about her next album, scheduled to drop this month, and hinted there's something big on the way.

'I have an album coming. It will be dropping in October,' she told the Associated Press. 'I'm a little nervous to put the project out, but I think it's going to do pretty good.'

I mean, with Beyoncé on side, we have a feeling it'll do more than 'pretty good', Cardi.

News of a possible collaboration between the pair have sent Beyoncé's loyal fans, 'the Beehive', wild - but not in a good way.

Some of the 'hive' felt Cardi B wasn't on par with the 36-year-old and unworthy of making music with Houston-born star.

Others were ecstatic with the suggestion of a Bey-Cardi collab.

Unsurprisingly, Beyoncé's camp isn't impressed with Ashby's post about the pair's potential collaboration.

According to People, Ashby posted an apology to the 'Formation' singer and her fans earlier this week.

'Public apology to Beyoncé and all her fans unfortunately "hot new hip-hop" invaded (sic) my privacy. I cannot turn back the hands of time,' he continued, 'so at least this a life lesson I've learned on my behalf and all I can do is move forward'.

A collaboration with the Grammy-award winner would signal a major step for the 24-year-old rapper, who last month knocked Taylor Swift's single 'Look What You Made Me Do' off the top spot of the Billboard charts.

As a result, she's become the the first female rapper to get to No.1 without the assistance of any other artist in almost two decades.

The only way is up, Cardi.
