Yesterday afternoon, eight people were killed and 11 - including two children - were injured after a truck was driven into a cycle path in lower Manhattan, making it the deadliest terror attack in Manhattan since 9/11.

'This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror,' New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said following the incident, 'aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at people going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them.'
