And it seems Bella Hadid wanted to pay back the favour to her mother, former model Yolanda Hadid, by posting a beautifully-composed message about the Dutch star to Instagram.
Following a trip to Switzerland, the 21-year-old posted several black-and-white photographs of her mother posing up a storm, last night, with the caption: 'The woman who gave birth to me and my two beautiful siblings.
'The woman who works day and night to make sure everyone around her is okay - and if not, she'll fix it. I have never seen someone so selflessly give to her children and love the way she does with zero expectations in return.'
The model, who is rumoured to be dating singer/rapper Drake and suffers from bacterial infection Lyme disease like her mother added:
'Mama you live and lead your life with so much grace, gratitude, light, STRENGTH, generosity, compassion and most of all Love. After 21 years, I have never seen you hurt a fly or raise your voice. You always give before you ask and only use your power for good.
'I look up to you and learn from you more and more everyday. I will forever ask myself how I got so lucky to have an angel like you as a mother. But for now I will just thank the universe for bringing us together because I would be nowhere without you.
'You are my best friend and a leader for the three of us on a journey that unfolded in a way we didn't expect but that I am so thankful for.
'No it's not her birthday. I am just grateful,' she concluded her heart-felt message.
Later in the day, the model posted a picture of her mother enjoying a refreshing glass of gin and tonic during their European getaway.
