Clarence House has confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to marry.

Since the engagement news broke, the royal family, celebrities and well wishers have been keen to share their excitement on social media.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge led the congratulatory messages.

'We are very excited for Harry and Meghan,' the couple said in a statement shared by Kensington Palace. 'It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.'

Buckingham Palace also tweeted the Queen's response to her grandson's good news. 'The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness,' the message read.

Prime Minister Theresa May said the prince's engagement was 'a time of huge celebration for two people in love'.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also sent his 'best wishes'.

And judging by the general Twitter reaction, it's safe to royal fans are delighted that there's another royal wedding to look forward to.

It wasn't happy news for everyone, though. Some were left heartbroken...

While for others, there was only one question. Will Harry and Meghan's wedding day be a bank holiday?
