If you've been following Chloë Moretz and Brooklyn Beckham's loved-up romance on social media in recent months, you'd be forgiven for thinking their three-year love fest is near enough perfect.

However, as we all know, despite the pair sparking romance rumours back in 2014, the couple have endured a couple of bumps along the road, most notably their break-up last summer while the Kick Ass star lived Stateside and Beckham finished his studies in the UK.

Now reunited in the Big Apple where the 18-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham is currently studying photography, Moretz is now taking the time to reflect on her on/off relationship with her British beau over the years.

'I went through a hard year and I'm not going to hide that,' the actress recently told Australia's Daily Telegraph's Stella magazine.

'I had to deal with this new level of fame while I was growing up, I was getting out of a relationship and all of it was very public. I wanted to hide.'

However, a little bit of TLC from her family and some time away from the media meant that Moretz was finally able to mend her broken heart.

'They were like, "That's all great that you want to go away—but you can't. You are your own person. You're going to have to deal with this sort of thing",' she said.

'I felt like things were falling apart, like my head and heart weren't in the same place.

'Things started to change when I realised I have the power within to change them,' she added.

Earlier this summer, Brooklyn and Chloe sent the rumour mill into overdrive when they were spotted posting cryptic messages to each other on Instagram before being spotted enjoying a smooch at a rugby game in Dublin in October.

Yesterday, Brooklyn - who recently debuted a new tattoo inspired by his love on his torso - posted a photograph of his American girlfriend and captioned the post with a tulip emoji.
