The idea of meeting your future-in-laws would have most people breaking into a cold sweat.

So, imagine what was going through Meghan Markle's mind yesterday afternoon when she attended a Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace with her soon-to-be family, the Royals.

The Daily Mail reports the Christmas lunch provided the perfect opportunity for the 36-year-old actress to catch up with her fiancé, Prince Harry's, extended family, including the likes of Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

A source reportedly told the publication that the Suits star appeared slightly nervous initially but eased into the occasion, with Harry's relatives even queuing up to meet the American for the first time.

'Everyone wanted to meet Meghan and welcome her to the family and she didn't disappoint,' the insider told the Mail.

'Harry was clearly very happy and very proud of her and everyone thought she was delightful. It was your typical Christmas lunch in spite of who was there – turkey, crackers…the lot.'

The now London-based star was even spotted pulling a cracker with Prince Charles, before reading out a joke and donning a paper hat before lunch.

Markle's attendance at the Palace follows in the tradition of her future sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who made the guest list for the first time in 2010, then as Prince William's fiancée.

Meanwhile, the brunette beauty will break royal tradition for the first time this weekend by attending Sandringham Estate for Christmas, on invitation by the Queen, which marks the first time in royal history a non-member of the Monarchy has attended the much-loved country retreat.

It sounds like Markle passed the royal test with colours!
