It seems like only yesterday, Vanessa Hudgens and her High School Musical co-star and then-boyfriend, Zac Efron, were singing about the Wild Cats and being 'all in this together'.

Fast forward 12 years and the pair have since split, swiftly followed by rumoured romances with the likes of Josh Hutcherson, Alex Pettyfer, Lily Collins and Michelle Rodriguez, respectively.

However, no romance has lasted as long as Hudgens' relationship with actor Austin Butler, after the pair were introduced to each other by HSM alumna Ashley Tisdale in 2011, sparking a five-year-long (and counting) relationship.

And now, the 29-year-old actress has sparked rumours she's taken her relationship with Butler to the next level, after posting a photograph of herself on Instagram on Sunday night of her new bob.

Okay, so a haircut doesn't necessarily suggest a wedding is on the way, but the bling on her ring finger certainly does.

In a mirror selfie, Vanessa - who is currently filming a film with Jennifer Lopez in NYC - wrote: 'And then this happened', while sporting a gigantic vintage signet style engagement ring.

It didn't take long before Hudgens' fans took to social media to comment on the star's post and question a possible engagement.

'Yay @vanessahudgens congratulations on your engagement,' wrote one fan, while another dispelled rumours and wrote: 'SHE NOT ENGAGED YALL CHILL.'

Unfortunately, Hudgens later too to Twitter to repost her original image and revealed exactly what was happening with regards to her marital status.

'Guysssss. I'm not engaged! I posted a pic. Not to show off my ring that I happened to throw on that finger after a long day of filming but to show off my haircut lol.'
