Whilst plenty of us spent our own New Year celebrations in a friend's flat, hugging a bottle of Prosecco until it came time to head to the kebab shop, others were having a much more sophisticated affair. Namely Selena Gomez, who continued on her six year long tradition of spending the evening with her closest friends including Raquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook and more.

The besties jetted off to Cabo in Mexico on Wednesday, where they frolicked in the sun and sea and generally looked like they are having a whale of a time. E! News reported that, 'She seemed very excited when she landed and was giggling with her friends and taking photos,' the girl group apparently planned to, 'do some fun dinners and spend New Year's Eve together.' Cute.

The friends apparently spent time in a private villa that set them back about £13,280 each night.

Prior to the 25 year-old singer's holiday break there were rumours that her now on-again 23 year-old boyfriend Justin Bieber, was not welcome at the Gomez family Christmas. Despite Bieber's own mum reportedly being quite chuffed with the renewed relationship, Gomez's nearest and dearest clearly didn't feel the same way.

So, when we saw that Gomez's Cabo trip was Bieber-free, we were worried.

However, fan accounts have posted what they claim to be Justin Bieber arriving in Mexico on Sunday, just in time for the ringing in of 218. Paparazzi shots have also emerged of the Canadian in the popular Mexican location.

E! News has further reports from an 'insider' saying that, 'Justin flew in to Cabo on a private jet from Cancun where he spent a few days with his family. He arrived on Saturday evening and checked into an oceanfront villa 10 minutes away from Selena's villa where she was staying.'

Apparently the young pair had a 'low-key' celebration of the beginning of 2018, 'They rang in the New Year together and enjoyed watching fireworks over the ocean.'

Thank goodness, we couldn't handle them being off again.
