A mere three days into 2018, and one of the most powerful men in the world is already threatening nuclear war with a side of sexual innuendo.

After a relatively quiet holiday break, the president has spent his time back at the White House sending out a flurry of tweets that took aim at North Korea, Huma Abedin, Palestine and the new publisher of The New York Times.

Here's a round-up of 'best' moments from the president's Twitter feed over the first three days of 2018.

362 days to go, people!

He Bragged About The Size Of His 'Nuclear Button' And Its Capacity To 'Work'

President Donald Trump on Tuesday taunted North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, warning Kim about US nuclear capabilities as tensions worsen between the two nations.

'North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.' Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!' Trump tweeted.

The president's Tweet sent a wave of concern across the social media site.

People were, naturally, alarmed that a subject so potentially catastrophic was being casually discussed on social media, but a few noted Trump's preoccupation with size.

Meanwhile, protestors in San Francisco have called out Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, for not doing enough:

He Announced Plans For The Most 'Dishonest And Corrupt' Media Awards

Anyone who pays even the slightest bit of attention to the news will know that Trump shares a bitter relationship with the mainstream American press. Fake news, anyone? Well, one solution seems to be the 'most dishonest and corrupt' media awards, which Trump will announce next week.

Mr Trump has been at loggerheads with several US mainstream media outlets, including the CNN, ABC News, The New York Times and the Washington Post among others.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump attacked his favoured punching bag, the 'Failing' New York Times, and its new publisher.

'Get impartial journalists of a much higher standard, lose all of your phony and non-existent "sources," and treat the President of the United States FAIRLY, so that the next time I (and the people) win, you won't have to write an apology to your readers for a job poorly done!'

He Took Credit For 2017's Air Safety Record

On January 2, Trump appeared to take credit for a lack of deaths on commercial jet planes last year.

The internet subsequently exploded, with bewildered and mocking responses pouring in. Many of them took the form of wondering how, exactly, Mr Trump could claim credit for safer air travel.

The president appeared to be referencing a report from the Aviation Safety Network that dubbed 2017 the 'safest year ever for commercial aviation'.

But as a number of Twitter users noted, no one has died on a commercial American carrier's flight since 2009, when a plane crashed near Buffalo, New York.

He Threatened To Cut US Aid To Palestinians

Trump threatened to cut funding for the Palestinian Authority unless it recommences peace talks, just hours after America said it would withhold similar funds from Pakistan.

In a pair of tweets, he said the US paid 'the Palestinians HUNDRED [sic] OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year and get no appreciation or respect. They don't even want to negotiate a long overdue … peace treaty with Israel.'

'We have taken Jerusalem, the toughest part of the negotiation, off the table, but Israel, for that, would have had to pay more. But with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?'

These Tweets follow Trump's decision to relocate the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, causing rising tensions throughout the Middle East in recent weeks.

He Suggests Hillary Clinton's Former Top Aide Huma Abedin Should Be Jailed

Yesterday morning, Trump appeared to be calling for the imprisonment of Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton's closest aides, for allegedly mishandling classified information.

'Crooked Hillary Clinton's top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others,' he tweeted.

Trump's tweet came just days after the State Department released emails belonging to Abdein, including some marked classified that were found on her husband's laptop, former congressman Anthony Weiner. The laptop was seized by the FBI in late October 2016 in relation to a case involving Weiner's sexting of a teen girl, but it ended up entangling Clinton and Abedin in the presidential race's final days.

Taken together, Trump's tweets set the stage for 2018. Some commentators have raised concerns over his recent Twitter storm, believing that these strange tweets could be a sign that something is wrong with the president.

Either way, 2018 looks set to be another interesting year.
