No family is without its drama.

However, in the lead up to Meghan Markle's wedding to Prince Harry on 19 May, her half sister has now come forward to ask for the 36-year-old's forgiveness after some rather harsh comments she made about the star.

In an interview with the Mirror, the 52-year-old revealed that she hasn't spoken to her sibling since 2014.

'The last time we spoke – when I heard her voice – was 2014, almost 2015,' she said.

'Her last words were, "I love you, babe. I'm really glad we had this conversation. Keep in touch". And she couldn't – she got busy. I tried. But I think she just got really busy.'

Reportedly breaking down into tears, the bride-to-be's sister added: 'I hope now that she knows I was there. I should've really reached out more... but I'm proud of her.'

With a forthcoming memoir titled The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister, which Samantha describes not as an insult to Meghan but about 'social perceptions and labels', the half-sister admitted she hoped the book would show 'that she [is the] opposite'.

The star's sister also addressed several negative comments she made about Meghan's charity work in India, describing her half-sister on Twitter as lacking 'basic human consideration'.

'I can only say to Meg, "Forgive me",' she added.

While it's unknown whether she will get an invitation to Markle's nuptials at St George's Chapel in Windsor Chapel this spring, Samantha holds out hope.

'I don't know... I don't know if she's going to feel that my book is good. There's a lot of misperception out there.

'I'd be lying to say that I wouldn't be hurt if I didn't get an invite but that's really up to her.

'That's her day. It's her special moment. And I would love to be a part of it. But, I think, possibly she might also understand that it's not easy for all of us to get there. But if we can, we will,' she said.

Samantha's comments come after she slammed her sister's choice of attire for her engagement photos in which the Suits star wore a Ralph & Russo gown that cost an estimated £56,000.

In an interview with In Touch Weekly, she said: 'If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad.'

She's also recently spoken out against Prince Harry's remarks about his fiancée finally getting the family that 'she's never had'.

Taking to Twitter, Samantha wrote: 'Actually she has a large family who were always there with her and for her.

'Our household was very normal and when dad and Doria divorced, we all made it so it was like she had two houses. No one was estranged, she was just too busy.'
