Before the days of The Weeknd and her rumoured on/off relationship with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez once briefly dated former boy band member Nick Jonas.

Amid news the 25-year-old singer anonymously donated a substantial amount of money to the Time's Up initiative following criticism over her work with Woody Allen, the singer has taken the time to prank her former love interest and get him to reveal one of their most cringe-worthy dates.

During Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 show this week, Jonas took part in a segment in which he was hooked up to a heart monitor while celebrities, including the likes of Jack Black and his older brother Joe, asked him a series of questions to test his reactions.

At one point, Selena Gomez appeared on a screen opposite the heartthrob to ask him about a date way back in 2008 when the pair were an item.

'Hello Nicholas, it's Selena Gomez,' said the 'Bad Liar' singer.

'I don't need to say my full name with you, but it is. So I know what you're doing, and I would like to remind you of a time where we all went to Central Park together. It was definitely over 10 years ago. I was wondering if that brought up anything for you. You know, Central Park was really beautiful. It was actually my first time. Maybe that says something? If not, I failed.'

Recalling the pair's date, Nick took a breath and clarified what actually went down that fateful day in Central Park.

'This was at a time where my brothers and I were a boy band, and we were in Central Park,' he said, referring to his former band, the Jonas Brothers.

'And we were very private about our relationship, and she was unhappy that her Central Park experience was ruined by the fact that I walked about 20 feet away from her, even though they were taking pictures of us and obviously we were there together, I was like, 'It'd be better if we stood about 25 feet apart'. So it ruined her Central Park experience.'

To make matters even worse for the pair, they weren't the only ones on the date.

'So her and Taylor Swift — who was dating my brother Joe, but we never confirmed it — walked 25 feet behind us as we walked through the park by ourselves,' added Nick.

So, basically, Taylor and Selena went on a failed double date to Central Park with the Jonas Brothers.

Yes, we don't think we'd be too impressed either Nick.

The news comes months after Jonas praised his ex-girlfriend's bravery in speaking out about her recent kidney transplant.

'I was as surprised as everyone else when I woke up and saw her Instagram,' he said on SiriusXM's Hits 1 last year.

'But wow, just incredible. And the strength she's shown through all that's amazing and inspiring. And I'm pumped for her. I'm happy to see that she's doing well, it seems, and that she was able to get the surgery. And her friend helping her was a beautiful thing, so it's all amazing.'

So adorable.
