Maisie Williams Thinks She'll Struggle To Find Roles After 'Game Of Thrones' Because Of Her Looks

With just one year to go until Game of Thrones comes to an end, Maisie Williams is already planning her next career move in Hollywood.

However, despite having already nabbed roles in Doctor Who, The Book of Love and the newly-released Nick Park animated comedy Early Man, the 20-year-old is already concerned her appearance might affect the acting parts she's offered in the future.

In an interview with the Irish Times, the star - who plays Arya Stark in the HBO series - said she's come to realise what parts she can and cannot play as a result of the film industry's unrealistic beauty standards.

'It's only now I'm starting to realise the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren't available to me,' she said.

'It's a very shallow industry. And I don't look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualised.'

Known for her sparring skills and no-nonsense attitude in the GOT series, Williams was cast as tomboyish Arya when she was just 13-years-old.

Williams went on to call for more diversity in the entertainment industry, as she's disappointed different types of beauty aren't represented.

She added: 'Don't get me wrong. I'm completely in awe of Hollywood's leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it's sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful on screen.'

Despite having admitted she was 'nervous' to leave the 'safety blanket' of her hit fantasy show, at least Williams has one important role to play on the cards - the bridesmaid of her GOT co-star and BFF, Sophie Turner.

During an interview with Radio Times, the actress revealed she was going to be a bridesmaid at Turner's upcoming nuptials to singer Joe Jonas, saying she had 'already got' her place in the bridal party.

Last week, Williams revealed on ITV's Lorraine that she struggled in the first few years of filming Game of Thrones as a result of having to balance her 'double life' of school and acting.

She explained: 'I juggled school and filming at the same time for awhile, but as I went through school and my GCSEs, my character only got bigger and bigger, so I was home-schooled for a little while.'

We can't wait to see what's in store for Maisie.
