Yesterday was a big day for members of the Hollywood elite.

On Tuesday morning, the Oscar nominations for the 90th Annual Awards were announced ahead of the live Academy Awards on Sunday 4 March.

And while the likes of Meryl Streep and Christopher Nolan's recent blockbuster hits all added several more Oscar nods to the stars' resumés, there were a select group of Hollywood greats who just celebrated their first ever nominations.

And let's just say, they seem pretty happy about it.

Expressing her glee at being nominated for 'Best Lead Actress' for her role in I, Tonya, Margot Robbie took to Instagram to post a snap of her and her younger brother in a tight embrace.

Smiling in the photo, Robbie captioned the adorable picture: 'Me & my lil bro just 15 hours ago. No better place to receive such exciting news - with my closest friends and family in my home country. All the feels right now.'

Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet is currently celebrating his Oscar nomination for 'Best Lead Actor' in Italy with his Call Me By Your Name co-star Armie Hammer and the film's director Luca Guadagnino.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 22-year-old said of the nomination: 'I've been traveling with Armie Hammer the last twelve hours. We land in two hours and we will be back in Italy together for the first time in a year and a half. Tonight we're getting dinner with Luca Guadagnino.'

The actor later took to Instagram to thank everyone who worked on Guadagnino's film.

'Okay quick #GRATITUDEPOST because I mean holy shit what a day. IT TAKES A VILLAGE!,"'the actor wrote in the caption of a photo of his name listed with fellow Best Actor nominees like Gary Oldman and Denzel Washington.

Jordan Peele, the director of horror film Get Out (which scored Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Actor for star Daniel Kaluuya), later took to Twitter to announce his joy at scoring his first nomination.

The accolade also makes him the first African American to be honoured with the trifecta of Oscar nominations.

Peele tweeted a gif of Kaluuya's character crying, before telling fans he too broke down into ugly tears on hearing the news.

Congratulations!
