Looking at the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again trailer there a few things apparent:

1. Dominic Cooper is still banging.

2. Lily James is the perfect younger Donna.

3. Meryl Streep is missing in action.

Wait, what?

Although Donna's mother does appear, in the impressive form of Cher, Sophie's mother is notably absent.

And, forgive us for thinking this, it looks like Streep's Donna possibly could have died in the 10 year hiatus between these films, leaving her daughter Sophie to look after the Greek island's hotel.

Donna is referenced in the past tense in the trailer, with one clip showing Amanda Seyfried's Sophie looking forlornly at photographs of her young mother.

Obviously, hardcore Streep fans (Streepers?) have latched onto this, prematurely mourning the death of Streep's character Donna and even thinking about boycotting the film.

However, as many have pointed out, there are still plenty of reasons to go and see the film, mainly due to Cher and a beautifully matured Mr Darcy. Whoops, we meant Colin Firth...

And, have no fear, because there is good news on the horizon, in the form of Meryl Streep in Big Little Lies' second season.

Phew.
