Days after showing off an array of stunning fashion looks during her Scandinavian royal tour, Kate Middleton has launched Children's Mental Health Week with an impassioned video to encourage children to open up about their emotions.

This morning, the pregnant Duchess marked the start of the mental health-focussed campaign (Monday 5 February) with a video outlining the importance of children feeling comfortable with themselves.

In the message, the 36-year-old - who is the the Royal Patron of children's mental health charity Place2Be - says: 'Childhood is an incredibly important moment in our lives.

'It is the time when we explore our personalities, discover the potential that lies within us and learn how to be ourselves.

'Our experience of the world at this early stage helps to shape who we become as adults, how we begin to feel comfortable in our own skin.'

She goes on to implore adults to help children become the best versions of themselves.

The royal continued: 'Some children will be facing tougher challenges than others, but I firmly believe that while we cannot change their circumstances, we can ensure that every child is given the best possible support to ensure they fulfil their true potential.

'This is best achieved when we, the adults in their lives, work together to give children the emotional strength they need to face their futures and thrive.

'Whether we are school leaders, teachers, support staff or parents, we each have a role to play. When we are open and honest with each other about the challenges we face, we can work together to ensure the children in our care have the chance to become the best version of themselves."

Last year, Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry launched the mental health campaign Heads Together which just launched a website that promises to provide education professionals with the resources they need to discuss mental health with their students.

The website includes 1,500 resources and will be, according to the Duchess who spearheaded the project, 'a fantastic practical resource for schools, drawing together quality assured and useful information and resources into one place. We'd encourage all primary school leaders and their teams to bookmark it'.

Last year, the royal also appeared in a new charity video raising awareness about mental health, for the Anna Freud National Centre.

'Sometimes, it's just a simple conversation that can make things better,' she said in the clip.

Keep up the good work, Kate.
