While opinions may differ about Jamie Dornan's leading role as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey (what with the whole 'obsessive, sadistic, control freak' thing), I think we can all agree the Irish actor has done a stellar job at bringing the story to life.

However, if you're hoping the father-of-two will continue to play Grey until, well, he's old and grey (get it?), prepare to be disappointed.

In a recent interview about the film's third instalment with Lorraine Kelly, the former model admitted he thought the film would be the final in the franchise.

'There's no other books,' he explained. 'Erica wrote the first two books again from Christian's perspective, but I guess we've done those films, the same stories, so they won't be doing that again.

'Unless Erica keeps writing, but Dakota and I are – particularly me, I'm getting too old for this.'

Aged just 35-years-old, we're not quite sure Dornan has peaked when it comes to playing Grey (Roger Moore was aged 45 when he played womaniser James Bond, we might add). But. we can sympathise with the star somewhat.

After all, playing a controlling BDSM-loving entrepreneur when you're a serious actor with a family can't be a walk in the park.

Of course, this isn't the first time the actor has revealed he's more than ready to quit returning to his Fifty Shades alter-ego.

In a previous interview with The Sun, the star - who sings in the latest film - said: 'We have done two movies back to back now, and I'm actually finished with it. I've done Fifty Shades forever.

'I move on very fast in my mind. As much as from the outside people think you are synonymous with one character, but I'm very much like, "Right, that's done" and move on to the next project and worry about that character.'

During the interview with Kelly, Dornan also opened up about whether he actually has grown to like his character in the hit film series.

'I think I like him more now than I did in the first movie,' Dornan admitted.

'I think he's gone through quite a big change in his...in his way and how his is with people and he's opened up a lot by Anna and I think he's just a better version of himself.'

Well, we blummin' well hope so after all this time, Jamie.
