It can't be easy to plan a hen do for a future Princess, but Meghan Markle has revealed that her friends have her special bachelorette party planned already.

Markle and Prince Harry arrived in Edinburgh today for their first official visit to Scotland, and during their royal walkabout, the 36-year-old actress was asked up her upcoming hen do.

After telling one well-wisher that it was 'sorted', Markle added that she was certain it would be 'fun', whatever her girlfriends have in store for her.

'We asked them what they were doing for their stag and hen dos,' Tom, 30, from London told People.

'Meghan said, "I'm not sure - it's sorted but it will be fun".'

Prince Harry admitted he was being kept in the dark about his stag do, adding: 'I'm sure William's got something up his sleeve.'

Markle also complimented one royal fan's pink nails, which she agreed were 'very Valentine'sy'.

Earlier in the afternoon, the couple were warmly welcomed by members of the public plus a mascot for The Royal Regiment of Scotland - an adorable Shetland pony named Cruachan, who affectionately attempted to nibble on Prince Harry's hand.

During their tour of Edinburgh castle, the pair observed the firing of the One O'clock Gun - a tradition which started in 1861 to mark time for ships in the Firth of Forth.

They also visited Social Bite, a social business and café located in Edinburgh's New Town set up to provide food and hot drinks to homeless people in the area.

Social Bite runs social enterprise cafés throughout Scotland which distribute 100,000 items of food and hot drinks to homeless people each year, as well as employing staff who have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives.

The royal couple will conclude their tour by attending a reception this evening at the Palace of Holyroodhouse to celebrate youth achievements, marking Scotland's Year of Young People 2018.
