Before the BAFTAs had even drawn to a close, Twitter has already erupted with vigorous fury and accusations that Anglo-American beef is being started.

People on social media are up in arms against American actress Jennifer Lawrence, for a moment during the BAFTAs ceremony, at which she was perceived to have thrown shade at British national treasure Joanna Lumley.

The Absolutely Fabulous star, who was hosting tonight's glamorous event, was tasked with welcoming the Oscar-winning Lawrence up onto the stage.

In typical Lumley, hyperbolic fashion, the 71 year-old called the American Hustle star 'ravishing' and 'the hottest star on the planet.'

When the 27 year-old Lawrence came up to present the award for Outstanding British Film, she reportedly shaded the human rights activist by calling her 'too much'.

Others on the social network went on to suggest that Jennifer Lawrence's presentation was lackluster and moody, and could not believe she had the gumption to diss Lumley.

Some have also suggested that Jennifer Lawrence might have been taking issue with the fact that her physical appearance was the main focus of her introduction:

On the other hand though, she could just have been pulling a typical J-Law move, by making a sarcastic off-hand remark with no real bad intention.

The award went to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing and, whilst the acceptance speech was occurring, it looked like Lumley and Lawrence managed to have a good natter together.

We predict the pair were promising to go for a drink together afterwards, we can't see any bad blood between this fabulous set of women.
