Update: Jennifer Lawrence Has Clapped Back At Those Saying This Photo Is Sexist

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has responded to controversy surrounding that photo call.

Not happy with the furore surrounding her and her male co-stars' respective dress choices the Hunger Games star took to Facebook to express her disappointment.

In a post the activist wrote how not even snow could get her to cover up her fabulous Versace dress with a coat.

She explained: 'This is sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism. Over- reacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward.'

Why This Photo Of Jennifer Lawrence Goes To Show Hollywood's Gross Gender Inequality

Whether it's a premiere in New York in sub-zero temperatures, or a red carpet appearance in London when it's undoubtedly raining buckets, we often wonder how (and why) female celebrities wear strapless evening dresses.

Granted, it's not as easy to look like an regal goddess wrapped up in a wooly polo neck, scarves and knitted mittens, but surely when stiff nipples, hypothermia and ice-old hands are on the cards, a least a coat should be an option.

So, this might be why some people on social media have taken umbrage with recent pictures of Jennifer Lawrence during an outdoor photoshoot in London.

Posing in a black Versace gown with a plunging V-neck and hip-high slit, the coat-less 27-year-old is seen standing alongside four of her male Red Sparrow co-stars and director Francis Lawrence who are noticeably wrapped in up trousers, boots, and long coats.

And while the actress looks undeniably stunning, she equally looks freezing cold in the 5°C British weather.

As a result, Twitter users have voiced their concerns about the photo, suggesting the image further highlights the gross inequality between men and women in Hollywood, questioning why the male members of the film were allowed to dress appropriately for the weather, but Lawrence wasn't.

Of course, there are several reasons why Lawrence may have opted not to ditch the black trench coat she was wearing on her way to the photocall.

Perhaps the Oscar-winner wanted to show off her Versace gown in all its dazzling glory?

Or maybe, she offered her coat to Joel Edgerton given the fact he can be seen wearing not one but two coats in this photocall.

However, we can't help but agree to some extent with the fact the snap goes to show the disparity between the way male and female actors are treated, with the latter's beauty prioritised over health and well-being, in some cases.

Someone fetch JLaw a coat, please!
