Allison Janney apparently had a great night at the BAFTAs last weekend. Not only did she win the Best Supporting Actress nod, she also got to meet two members of the British royal family—the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

There was only one tiny issue: Janney was barefoot. The I, Tonya star was seen exiting the ceremony sans footwear on Sunday night (we all know the feeling), but she hadn't put any shoes back on by the time she met Kate Middleton and Prince William.

'I did meet Kate and William, and she was in her heels and pregnant, so I felt like a bit of a wimp that I was there in my bare feet,' Janney told James Corden on The Late Late Show last night.

'She was in full-on heels, and she was my height when I was in my bare feet, it was kind of extraordinary that she's that tall,' Janney added.

'I told her that I was in bare feet and I told her that she should take her shoes off 'cause she's pregnant,' the actress continued. 'It was an awkward moment.'

She added that she accidentally called Middleton by a pet name. 'I called her 'honey' and that might not have been royal etiquette,' she said.

Turns out, that actually isn't proper protocol. The royal family's official website suggests that guests traditionally refer to female members as 'Your Royal Highness' and, subsequently, 'Ma'am.' Unfortunately, 'honey' isn't on the list. But luckily for Janney, there's no mention of bare feet!
