On Monday, Melania Trump called for 'positive habits on social media', during a luncheon for governor's spouses.

'As I have said before, it is important that as adults we take the lead and responsibility in helping our children manage the many issues they're facing today,' Melania said, reports The Hill.

'This means encouraging positive habits on social media and technology, even limiting time online and understanding the content they are exposed to on a daily basis.'

Melanie's comments may seem at odds to her husband Donald Trump'scomplicated relationship with social media, having become a prominent Twitter user known for often spewing misogynistic, racist, insensitive and hateful content.

For example, the President recently addressed the mass shooting in Florida earlier this month by seemingly blaming the victims of the incident, and called for 'highly adept' teachers to carry guns to protect students.

In her address, Melania continued: 'I am asking you all to join me today and commit to promoting values such as encouragement, kindness, compassion and respect in our children.'

Some Twitter users pointed out Melania's speech was somewhat contradictory to her husband's social media antics.

The First Lady's comments come six months after she made a trip to the U.N, where she initially spoke out against the threat of cyberbullying.

During the address, the former model said: 'Together we must acknowledge that all too often it's the weakest, most innocent, and vulnerable among us—our children—who ultimately suffer the most from the challenges that plague our societies.'

Concluding her speech, she (ironically) encouraged the audience to 'live by the golden rule, which is to do unto others as you would have done unto you'.

Melania, you might want to write this on a Post-it note and pop it on Donald's bedside table this evening - just an idea.
