It's a well known fact that Paris Jackson loves social media; regularly posting pictures of her latest tattoos, her red carpet outfits, encouraging fans to be proud of their body hair, and embrace their spirituality.

But yesterday, the 19-year-old took to her social media platforms to ask her 1.35 million Twitter followers to stop editing one very important part of her identity: her skin colour.

Last night, the budding actress and daughter of the late Michael Jackson took to Twitter to share her feelings about people who try to make her skin whiter or more biracial.

'I appreciate everything y'all make for me, I enjoy every single edit I see,' she wrote.

'But please stop lightening my skin to make me look more white. And please stop darkening my skin to make me look more mixed. I am what I am. I'm aware of what I look like and I finally happy with it.'

Several of Paris' fans took to her Twitter to offer words of support.

One replied: 'I'm so sorry paris. i have never understood why someone would want to change some else's skin colour. it's really upsetting that you even have to point this out.'

Another wrote: 'You are a wonderful woman and nobody need change nothing about you, we love u Paris.'

The post comes months after the star opened up about her race in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine and admitted: 'I consider myself black'.

She added that her father, 'would look me in the eyes and he'd point his finger at me and he'd be like, "You're black. Be proud of your roots." And I'd be like, "OK, he's my dad, why would he lie to me?" So I just believe what he told me. 'Cause, to my knowledge, he's never lied to me.'

'Most people that don't know me call me white,' Paris explained.

'I've got light skin and, especially since I've had my hair blonde, I look like I was born in Finland or something.'

Let Paris be who she wants to be.
