Following news of their split earlier this week, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid both took to social media to amicably announce their break-up after two years.

However, yesterday afternoon Zayn's sister Safaa posted a rather cryptic Instgram message on Twitter to point out to her fans that 'horrible people get nowhere'.

The 15-year-old shared the message on social media following news of the split which captioned a picture of a quote that read: 'Don't get mad. Get even.Do better. Much better.

'Become so engulfed in your own success & happiness that you forget it ever happened.'

As a result, both Malik and Hadid's fans have begun speculating over who the post is referring to as its uncertain whether Safaa is making a dig at the famous model, or trolls who criticise the former couple following their break-up.

One fan wrote: 'You wrote this for Zayn cause he broke up?', and another added: 'Omg spill that tea sister.'

However, Safaa isn't the only sibling caught in the firing line as Gigi's sister Bella is now also being accused of stirring the pot.

Yesterday, the 21-year-old model posted a snap of herself on the sofa with the caption 'I'll be right here', which has seen Zayn's fans speculate she's referencing him in the post.

The caption is widely believed to allude to Zayn's 'Dusk Til Dawn' song lyric: 'Baby I'm right here… I'll hold you when things go wrong.'

One follower wrote: 'Are you saying that to anybody in particular? Zayn?' Another posted: 'Why do I feel like she posted this for zayn or something.'

Confirming the break-up, Zayn posted a message on Twitter that read: 'Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul.

'I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ.'

Minutes later, Gigi released her own statement, writing: 'Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years.. not only in the relationship, but in life in general.

'I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever's meant to be will always be. xG.'

Now is not the time for family feuds.
