Variety is the spice of Instagram, that's what we say. Be it illustrators, poets, pugs, or style stars - our timelines are as colourful and filled with different types of content as possible.

With plenty of people telling us that Instagram is the most harmful of all social medias, we're looking to follow people who inspire us. On that note, let us introduce these energising female music artists. They not only fill our feeds with songs, inspiration and daily glimpses into their life, but a load of pretty pictures too.

Rita Ekwere, or rather Ray BLK, won the BBC's Sound of 2017. She's already collaborated with ELLE favourite Stormy and she dresses pretty too. Follow for sparkly boots and backstage shots.

Raveena Aurora

If a Petra Collins photograph mated with a Corinne Bailey Rae song, you would get Raveena Aurora. From New York, the singer songwriter delivers R&B alongside a whole load of millennial pink.

Imogen Mahdavi

With only around 500 followers, you've got the rare opportunity to be able to say 'I've liked her since her Soundcloud days'. Imogen Mahdavi's distinctive jazzy tone means you won't forget her easily. Follow for major Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse feels.

Léon

Lotta Lindgren, or Léon rather, is a Swedish singer whose deep soul voice has caught the attention of Katy Perry and more. She often posts live videos, which makes us feel like we're front row at a gig whilst scrolling in our PJs. Win win, if you ask us.

TYSM

Ms Banks

One of ELLE UK's rising stars, Ms Banks is the south London native who has gotten a nod of approval from the reigning Queen of rap, Nicki Minaj. Impressive stuff.

Vérité

Having started honing her musical skills since the ripe old age of 15, Vérité is an American songwriter already accomplished by the age of 27. Her first single 'Srange Enough' went viral in 2014, and now she's got an album out. We can't get enough.

Kelsey Lu

Mates with the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross and Kelela, Kelsey Lu is cooler than you or I will ever be. Who would have thought that a cello is the perfect Molly Goddard accessory? Not us.

Sônge

Since meeting her in Paris last year, ELLE UK can't stop thinking about Sônge. A Belgian native, the singer's music is coloured by her synaesthesia. Described as being somewhere between FKA Twigs, M.I.A and Christine and the Queens, she's most definitely living up to the hype.
