Celebrities have always been drawn to partners from similar realms of stardom and status – rock stars and catwalk models, actors and Grammy-award winners, reality stars and basketball players.
Looks often trumping common interest (beyond glittering parties).
But, a new trend in dating is taking over the celebrity world – one that prioritises intelligence and technology over burpee prowess and chiseled abs.
Welcome the rise of the irresistible tech nerd.
Last week, model Miranda Kerr announced her engagement to tech mogul Evan Spiegel on Instagram, along with an image of her engagement ring and a bespoke Snapchat emoji of Spiegel getting down on one knee to propose to the Australian beauty.
Why a Snapchat emoji?
Because the 26-year-old Stanford graduate (and soon-to-be Mr Kerr) is none other that the app's co-founder.
The former Victoria's Secret model and the tech mogul not sound the most likely pairing but it seems Kerr isn't the only female star cast under the spell of a tech-minded entrepreneur:
Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner
The supermodel and coding entrepreneur has been dating 30-year-old Harvard graduate Kushner for four years.
Last year, Kushner co-founded a technology company called Cadre which helps clients invest in real estate and has already raised over £190 million in capital.
Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen
Last year, the Girls actress married the co-founder of website College Humor wearing couture Oscar de la Renta at a ceremony officiated by actor Tom Hanks.
Van Veen last month joined Facebook as its head of global creative strategy.
Lily Cole and Kwame Ferreira
The 27-year-old supermodel gave birth to a girl called Wylde last year with boyfriend Kwame Ferreira – founder of the digital innovation agency Kwamecorp.
The pair met in 2012 when Ferreira invested money, technical help, design and engineering resources into her altruistic social networking site Impossible.com.
A man with brains, tech-knowledge and looks – where do we sign?
