Christina Bognet is an MIT graduate and CEO of PlateJoy.com, a nutrition company that helps you eat better by providing weekly, personalized shopping lists and recipes that match your lifestyle and goals.

As part of ELLE's Tech Titans series, she shares her tips on how to make it in a digital world.

My career in tech began by me losing 3.5 stone

I was overweight in college and eventually lost 50 lbs but it took so much planning, nutritional calculating, searching for recipes, and researching.

I wanted to create something that would automatically use data about your life to create a personalized menu for you, so that you could cook and eat well at home.

My goal in life is to reduce human suffering

The amount of suffering that ultimately stems from the effects of eating poorly is very great.

I want to help people feel healthy and happy so they can focus on doing things they enjoy.

It's incredible to feel like we've built something that has a positive impact

We were recently featured on a website where people could comment on our service publicly.

We had an outpouring of amazing responses from our customers, trying to convince other strangers to try our product because it had changed their lives.

One person said we were her 'cherished discovery'.

People aren't born knowing what a good career is

I think it's something that gets put into peoples' minds by their family, friends, schools, etc.

I was lucky enough to have parents who wanted me to do something I loved and that challenged me, so that was how I defined a good career.

I schedule in fun in my diary to make sure I take time off

At the beginning of every week, I schedule dinners and outings with friends so that I don't forget when I'm caught up in the week.

These engagements go straight into my calendar like any other meeting and make the week much more fun.

There's no one book every woman should read

Read whatever you're interested in.

I like to read science texts because I've forgotten so much since college and things are always evolving, especially in medicine and biology.

Lately I've been reading, How To Have A Good Day by Caroline Webb which is about how to harness the power of behavioral science to build a happy workplace.

My mantra is...

I once heard the expression, 'there are two ways to say something. One is kind' and I think of it often in my interactions with others.

My five most used apps are...

PlateJoy (of course!), Instagram, Uber, Headspace and Tile which finds things like your keys and phone.

My favourite emoji is...

😍  - it's closest to my daily general disposition.

The soundtrack to my life would be...

Flamenco Sketches by Miles Davis has always resonated with me in a way I can't explain, especially since the song has no lyrics.

Complete this sentence:  I am here to...

Ask if there's dairy in the salad dressing.
