I inadvertently wore maternity jeans on my first day of university. I'd seen them in Topshop and really liked the stretchy waist band (which I rolled down to look even 'cooler') but had no idea what is was actually meant for. When someone pointed it out and told everyone, I was always the girl who wore maternity jeans to Freshers Week. At least, my sense of style could only get better, minus a few very strange fancy dress outfits.

The day I moved into my halls of residence at the University of Leeds, I decided to dress in black skinny jeans and a black jumper – you know, the whole Audrey Hepburn/French chic vibe.

However, unbeknownst to me I was immediately labelled 'the goth' of our block. When I asked who this mysterious goth girl was at the end of Fresher's week, my friend had to explain that it was actually me. I don't think I wore black-on-black for the rest of the term.

A guy tried to climb through my window, luckily he didn't succeed as I would only have had a tampon as a defensive weapon...Lots of anticlimax!

My most memorable moment was going out to a house party dressed in an oversized jumper with a big daisy on the front with a pair of metallic hot pink leggings.

I had moved from a tiny sleepy village in Suffolk to the big smoke and thought this is what London cool kids would wear…I was wrong. I went out to a 3rd year house party with a group of girls I met that day and was convinced that we would be BFFs.

We ended up walking six miles to this house party (none of us knew how to use the night buses), getting stupidly drunk on Lambrini and vodka jelly and fell in to bed at 6am. I was awoken the next morning by our dorm rep to be told that we had the fresher's fair. I crawled out of bed after being promised free Domino's!

Having cinnamon poured down my throat for a dare… and the bus chants! They were so rude!
