Ultimate superhuman Scarlett Johansson is back showing the world who is boss in new film Lucy. The ELLE cover star plays a badass brainbox who develops superpowers after she’s tricked into being a drug mule.

In the spirit of women kicking-ass, ELLE is celebrating its favourite superwomen.

Wonder Woman

The ultimate woman. Wonder Woman is the Amazonian princess who comes to Man’s World to fight crime, save lives and look fabulous. Who hasn’t needed a Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets and a tiara to shoot people with? Her red, blue and gold outfit is the go-to fancy-dress costume but first glimpses of the new Wonder Woman film see her rocking a revamped brown ensemble.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

There aren’t many women as kickass as Buffy. The ultimate 90s superbabe, she juggled slaying vampires, dating one and graduating from high school. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy never needed a man to rescue her but had her pick of them- who could choose between Angel and Spike?

Catwoman

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/y2T7R8WXz0A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway have all tried her catsuit on for size. She's the feline fem fatale of superheroes but we’re never really sure whose side Catwoman is on. The only other woman who can pull-off a catsuit like her is Beyoncé.

Elastigirl <The Incredibles>

Most mums can be pretty incredible (pardon the pun) but Elastigirl takes things to a whole new level. Whether she’s stretching over the dinner table or forming a human parachute, her family of superheroes is nothing without her. Yummy mummies, take note.

Hit-Girl <Kick-Ass>

Move over supergirl Chloë Moretz’s Hit-Girl is the toughest girl on the block. Hit-Girl aka Mindy McCready is an 11-year-old vigilante whose father has raised her in a world where, ‘Barbie dolls are replaced with knives, and unicorns become hand grenades’ according to Director Matthew Vaughn. Don’t mess.

Storm <X-Men>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/4hQ2osaj91Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Storm shows Doctor X’s mutant men how it’s done. This white-haired witch can control the weather and makes sure the world feels the full force of women. Halle Berry has played her in all seven X-Men films, including the latest instalment in the series, <X-Men: Days Of Future Past>.
