We’ve long been convinced that there is nothing that Emma Watson can’t do. Star in the biggest film franchise of the century? Sure. Gain an Ivy League degree? No sweat. And now, help women towards political equality by campaigning as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador? You betcha – and in Uruguay, no less.

The 24-year-old travelled to the South American country yesterday to speak at an Parliamentary event for the HeForShe campaign, which aims to inspire men to end the inequalities faced by women in politics. Presenting to a packed room, she made her case in front of the Uruguayan Vice-President and an audience holding banners that read: ‘Say Yes to more women in politics’.

‘I was immensely touched to see so many young people outside the parliament here in Uruguay,’ Emma said afterwards. 'To see this kind of participation is why I'm here. It's why I've come to Uruguay and why I want to work with UN Women...

‘Thankfully, I have this platform and I'm able to shine a light on these issues, which are really important to me and this is what I want to continue to do and what I believe in passionately.’

And if there’s anyone that can do it…
