Lindsay Lohan's theatre debut held a few surprises - and not just on the stage, as Oprah Winfrey and Lupita Nyong'o joined theatre-goers to watch the 28-year-old actress in action in the new West End production of David Mamet's Hollywood satire Speed-the-Plow.

In a show of support, Oprah instagrammed a picture with Lindsay backstage.

Lohan then shared her own pic with the caption: 'So thrilled to have @Oprah and @Lupita_Nyongo in the audience tonight. Im a lucky girl! Xxo #myfairygodmother'.

Ever since Lohan trod her first board at London's Playhouse theatre last month, we've been keeping one eye on the headlines for news of her.

The Disney star turned It-girl has had a well-documented rocky time of late, with rumours of unprofessionalism and a very public private-life overshadowing her recent work. But it seems that Lohan is back on track, with positive reviews of her performance outweighing early whispers that she fluffed her (minimal) lines during rehearsals.

When you're taking a risk, it's always reassuring to have someone in your corner. And when that person is Oprah? You're bound to succeed…
