It's the baby name we couldn't wait to find out and it doesn't disappoint: Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have called their daughter Esmeralda Amada Gosling.

The best-kept baby secret in Hollywood was uncovered by TMZ, who obtained a copy of her official birth certificate. It also confirms her date of birth as 12 September 2014.

Esmeralda Amada is apparently an homage to Eva's Cuban heritage - it means 'beloved emerald' in Spanish. Additionally, it nods to their thespian roots: Esmeralda is a character in the Victor Hugo novel The Hunchback Of Notre-Dame (and the subsequent Disney version of it), while Amada is also the name of the character Eva played in 2007's We Own The Night.

Neither Gosling nor Mendes - who have been dating since meeting on the set of The Place Among The Pines in 2011 - has been seen in public since the birth but according to multiple sources, they're in 'heaven' enjoying private time as a new family of three.

'Ryan is very hands on. Changes diapers, rocks her to sleep—they gave her her first bath together and videotaped the whole thing,' a source told E!

Everything about this story makes us very happy indeed. Congrats again, you two.
