Neon artist Chris Bracey, of God's Own Junkyard, sadly passed away on Saturday.

His Twitter feed let the world know in typically tongue-in-cheek manner: 'Hi Chris ere, just wanna let you know I am actually in Gods Own Junk Yard and let me tell you its bleedin amazing up ere. xx'

An iconic artist and collector in his own right, Chris was hugely respected in the fashion industry having produced original pieces for Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen, Hollywood blockbusters including Batman and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the V&A Bowie exhibition, plus the Selfridges Christmas signage every year.

Collectors of his work include Kate Moss, Jude Law, Elton John and Lady Gaga - and, of course, ELLE UK, Chris created an original piece for our new ELLE Fashion Cupboard, reproducing our logo in white neon, which creates the focal point of our office.

His first solo exhibition, 'I've Looked Up to Heaven and Been Down to Hell', was shown last year, but you can also see his neon work on display in Selfridges’ shop windows, in-store and above the main entrance on Oxford Street.
