1. The guest list

If a picture is worth a thousand words, we’re sure this snapshot of the attendees of Taylor Swift’s birthday party will write the book. A host of stars turned up to celebrate the singer’s 25th, including (deep breath) Beyoncé, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake (who went incognito as a poop emoji), Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Jaime King, Kelly Osbourne, Charli XCX, Emma Roberts, Sam Smith, and all three sisters of HAIM. We think it might be the guest list to end all birthday guest lists.

2. The location

While the majority of us might be plenty happy with drinks at a local bar, T. Swift showed off her hospitable side by hosting the celebrations at her very own million-dollar New York loft. Not so shabby.

3. The gifts

Many would panic faced with the question of what to buy the girl who already has everything. Not Lena Dunham. The Girls writer/producer gifted the birthday girl with a necklace, and not just any necklace: a hand-painted Irene Neuwirth charm necklace - the pendant featuring none other than Taylor’s cat, Meredith.

4. The tributes

Noticeably, there was one famous face missing from the celebrations: Lorde. No problem, as the singer/songwriter took to social media site, Tumblr, to pay homage to Taylor in her absence. The Royals singer’s gushing tribute saw her refer to Swift as her ‘sister’, and listed their world-domination-worthy experiences together thus: 'Together, we've navigated our respective crazy years in work (…me cheering her on as she became a pop titan and conquered the world for what felt like the thousandth time), in love, in friendship, and in growing up.'

5. The birthday serenade

Were you serenaded on your birthday? Maybe. Was it by legendary soul singer, Aretha Franklin? Probably not. The pair were at the Billboard Magazine’s Women in Music event when the impromptu ‘Happy Birthday’ was sung.
