Sending back ill-fitting clothes – and items in multiple sizes – you’ve bought online could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a new ‘smart’ measuring tape.

Currently named On, the 63-inch tape measures users then transmits their unique data via Bluetooth to a smartphone app.

Developed by XYZE, the app shows shoppers how to correctly measure themselves, then saves their data and uses an algorithm to calculate the best fit for you, depending on the brand’s sizing.

XYZE is currently attempting to raise funds to bring the tape to market via crowdfunding site Indiegogo, and it is due to start shipping to customers in July, costing just £29.

No more waiting in the Post Office queue at lunchtime with unwanted asos.com parcels? We think this may be the best news we’ve heard all day.
