Angelina Jolie, who revealed last week that she's had her ovaries removed, made her first post-surgery appearance at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. She was joined by her children, Zahara and Shiloh, at the fun-filled ceremony, and as she picked up her own award, she delivered some must-hear words of wisdom.

The actress accepted the Favourite Villain award for her role in Maleficent, and while she was up on stage, she reminded her fans to embrace their true selves and be "different".

She said: "Different is good. So, don't fit. Don't ever try to be less than what you are, and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud."

The inspirational words may have been for the ears of a younger audience, but such sentiments are worth remembering at every stage of life. While you let them sink in, behold the beautiful moment Angelina won her award. We love how proud Zahara and Shiloh look in these gorgeous photos...

Don't worry, we've got something in our eyes, too.
