Sherlock and sex is something of a specialist subject area here at ELLE (confused? Read this immediately).

Whenever an opportunity presents itself to listen to ELLE cover star Benedict Cumberbatch say saucy-romantic things we are thrilled.

Benedict was amongst the roster of remarkable readers who took part in London's Letters Live events in April 2015. Each night he was joined by his Sherlock co-star Louise Brealey to read a series of passionate letters penned by real-life young lovers Bessie and Chris who were separated during the Second World War.

If you're experiencing accute FOMO right now, we have some excellent news. Radio 4 will be broadcasting 'My Dear Bessie' on 20 April – it is a love story told through letters, read by Benedict and Louise.

Want to listen to Benedict Cumberbatch say things like: 'I love you. Hurry on the day when I may... be received by your flesh and revived by your loveliness’? Of course you do. Put 20 April in your diary and listen to a preview of the programme below.
