As word comes from Hollywood that Maleficent 2 is up on the drawing board at Walt Disney Studios, speculation is circulating as to whether Angelina Jolie will return to star as the Disney villainess.
Last year’s sleeping beauty spin off presented Joile as the evil fairy Maleficent - a complicated villain with a conscience. While Deadline.com reports that the studio plans to keep the Oscar winning actress ‘in the loop’, she is notorious for turning down sequels to her widely popular movies, including Wanted and Salt. She did however reappear for her Tomb Raider and Kung Fu Panda series, so the odds are 50:50.
The 40-year-old mother of six has been focusing on her directorial talents of late – her fourth directorial feature, By the Sea, a romance set in France starring Jolie alongside her real-life husband Brad Pitt, is due out in December 2015.
Let’s hope despite her busy schedule that she’ll don the dark cloak and creepy prosthetics to give Maleficent the fairy tale ending we’re all hoping for.
