First Pinterest and Instagram, now Facebook. As if dedicated shopping apps weren't dangerous enough, more and more social media platforms are looking to service your online shopping addiction as well. (Or should we say, tempt our inner impulse purchaser.)

Last week, Facebook confirmed the development of an integrated shopping function in a report on Buzzfeed. The new feature, which is currently being tested by a small group of users, will allow retailers and e-commerce sites to host a product selection directly on their Facebook page.

On mobile devices, the shoppable section will be stacked above the Timeline as shown in the mock-up below. On a desktop, it will appear as a tab alongside the About and Photo sections.

Companies will have the option to allow customers to complete their purchase via an integrated checkout system, or click out to the company's own website to finalize the order.
