ICYMI, this Sunday the VMAs are taking place, with our very on October cover star Miley Cyrus hosting.
After re-visiting our favourite past VMA moments, we thought we’d pretend we’re in control of this year’s award recipients.
Here's who would win, if ELLE chose VMA winners.
Best Male Video:
Kendrick Lamar, Alright.
A video from one of THE albums of the year surely deserves an award, right? However even based on video alone, Kendrick’s conveys a powerful message. Also, it take some serious skill to balance on a traffic light.
Best Hip Hop Video:
Nicki Minaj, Anaconda.
During that twitter incident between Nicki and Taylor, Nicki had a point. The anaconda video was pretty iconic, and inspired Halloween outfits and parodies worldwide. Also don't pretend the song wasn't stuck in your head for the entire month of August, 2014.
Best Rock Video:
Florence has had an incredible year: from scoring her third chart-topping album to headlining Glastonbury. We think a VMA for one of the best songs off her album would be another great addition to her 2015.
Best Choreography:
It’s only right that Queen Bey sits on the throne for this one. We’ve been trying to master the dance routine for 7/11 since the Go-pro shot video was released. We still have a way to go but Beyoncé winning on Sunday may just give us the inspiration we need.
Video Of The Year:
Now for the big one. This has been a source of controversy since the nominations were announced (again, referring to the Taylor v. Nicki incident). Also really we'd be killing two birds with one stone as the award would technically go to Kendrick as well? So really, is it only fair that we award this one to Taylor. Plus, with that squad in the video, we can’t deny we haven’t watched it a million times.
