Avid Instagram users know that, for all the app's obsession-worthy features, one of its most egregious flaws is the restrictive square-only format. How can one be expected to fit an #ootd into a square and include detail?! Thankfully, this dilemma just got resolved—Instagram announced this morning that it's launching vertical and horizontally photo options today.

The statement came through the app's blog, where it revealed that one in five Instagram photos aren't actually in the square format (read: users are adding white borders before submitting the image). 'The visual story you're trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to,' the announcement read.

Eva Chen, head of fashion at Instagram, also shared the news on her profile, posting a vertical image 'releasing the Kraken' of full-length outfit photos.

Cue the collective sigh of relief from fashion girls and boys everywhere.
