One of the things we loved about the VMA’s - Miley Cyrus’s 11 costume changes aside - was how Taylor Swift used the awards as one massive excuse for a Swift Squad™ party. Gigi Hadid? Check. Cara Delevingne? Check. Selena Gomez? Check. Austin Swift? Sorry, what?

Along with her girl gang, Taylor invited younger brother Austin Swift, 23, to the awards to presumably see what all the fuss was about.

Did he get embarrassed by his sister’s on-stage antics, or propel a screwed-up VMA invite at the stage in the direction of Yeezy? Of course not, for the Swift’s are a rare breed of wholly likeable, supremely humble beings who never forget their roots. Or their farm.

After taking Austin to the Republic Records VMA Party sponsored by Marriott Rewards, he uttered one of the sweetest, most relatable statements ever (you know, relatable if your family tree contains a global icon). Thankfully Lorde was there to share the intimate moment on Twitter.

"At the after party, Austin leaned down from the banquette heaving with models in VIP to whisper in Taylor's ear, ‘We grew up on a FARM!!'" Lorde tweeted yesterday. "Way cuteeeee."

Taylor responded by sharing a retro family picture of the Swift clan on the farm. Humble, widely successful and knows her way around a tractor – should Kanye win the presidential election, Taylor needs to be elected Minister of Agriculture.
