Dakota Johnson has CONFIRMED the director of Fifty Shades of Grey sequel Fifty Shades Darker, admitting that she was scared of the franchise's future after Sam Taylor-Johnson announced that she would not be returning.

James Foley, who is best known for directing House of Cards, will direct the new film. Considering the majority of his work so far is of the crime/thriller variety, at least he should be pretty good at building the tension. Maybe we'll get to see Jamie Dornan talking to the camera Kevin Spacey style (okay, unlikely).

Both Jamie and Dakota are signed up for both sequels, but Sam Taylor-Johnson revealed in March that she was leaving the franchise, amid rumors of a fall-out with writer EL James.

Sam said in a statement to Us Weekly: 'Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota [Johnson] and Jamie [Dornan]. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.'
