Twitter Is Blaming Drake for Serena Williams' U.S. Open Loss

Poor guy just wanted to cheer her on.

In a crushing, unexpected defeat, Serena Williams was eliminated from the U.S. Open on Friday after losing to Italian underdog Roberta Vinci.

Williams was under a lot of pressure to make history with a U.S. Open win; it would have been the first calendar-year Grand Slam in decades.

So thousands of shattered fans decided to find a scapegoat, and they found Drake.

Williams and Drake are reportedly dating, and he stopped by to watch her losing match. This was the first time he stopped by the U.S. Open to watch her play, and it's the match where she got taken out. Though to be fair, he also watched her play at Wimbledon, and she won that tournament. Sports fans have called him a bad-luck charm in the past, having "jinxed" the Kentucky Wildcats and the Toronto Raptors simply by being a fan.

Despite the fact that Vinci legitimately played an amazing match, and that Williams is a talented competitor who wouldn't let a guy get in the way of victory, people on Twitter still had a lot of fun blaming him.​​
