Eddie Redmayne Is Very Nervous About The New 'Harry Potter' Movies

So much magic, so much pressure

Poor old Eddie Redmayne may have already made it big with his Oscar-winning performance in The Theory of Everything, but that doesn't mean he isn't feeling the pressure with his latest role. Because, no matter how talented you are, taking on the lead in an off-shoot of the Harry Potter franchise is a HUGE deal.

Starring Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, he'll have to meet the requirements of millions of dedicated fans, impress J.K. Rowling, and stay true to the books. That's intense. No wonder he's a bit nervous.

While attending the Toronto International Film Festival this week, Eddie told E! that the pressure is starting to get to him. "The stakes are high because they were so good before," he said. "You don't want to screw it up."

But in spite, or because of, those nerves, Eddie still knows that landing the role is really exciting. "It's a complete privilege for me," Redmayne said. "I love J.K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter films [and] books so for me this is just the most wondrous gift really."

A wondrous gift indeed. Don't mess it up.

Thankfully, Eddie does have the blessing of not only J.K., but also Harry Potter himself, so we think he'll do okay. Earlier this year, Daniel Radcliffe commented that he's really excited for the prequel's release, and gave Eddie his vote of confidence: "He's awesome. I think it'll be fantastic. I'm intrigued to see what they're going to do."
