It wasn't long ago Ryan Reynolds was confessing his innermost fears that his one and only child's first words would be an expletive.
But now we can all rest assured, as Ryan has revealed that baby James managed to steer clear of effing and blinding at less than a year old, and has uttered a much more pleasant first word instead.
Appearing on US chat show Live with Kelly and Michael, the first-time dad gushed about his daughter, Ryan confirmed that James' first word was, in fact, 'mama'.
But avoiding any concerns of favouritism among parents, Ryan went on to tell the chat show hosts: 'What my wife doesn't realise is the baby calls me 'Mama' too. Seriously. I literally had to sit her down and tell her that penises don't work that way.
'She understands... she gets it.'
And in that same interview, Ryan told the hilarious story of his daughter's first fever, in which he had to examine her in a less than ideal manner.
'I was told to check her temperature... through the rectum, which for me it was like... "Noooo, it can't be. There's a mouth! There's an armpit. There's gotta be something!'" he joked.
'It was terrifying, though. It all went well, though,' he clarified.
Oh, it's all fun and games in the Reynolds household, isn't it.
