With the whole world seemingly instagramming their avocado chili toast and piling guacamole on their burritos, it’s time for us to get a bit more niche. We’re following the advice of website One Green Planet, who has told us to (shock horror!) eat our avocado seed. As in, the stone.

Bear with us... There seems to be truth to the claim that it’s incredibly good for you. The report goes on to explain that an avocado stone contains 70% of the fruit’s antioxidants – that’s staggeringly high for something we throw away on a daily basis.

It’s recommended that you cut the seed into quarters and then put it in to a blender to make a powder. Then you can add it to things like smoothies and juices for a healthy avocado kick.  

It has soluble fiber that helps with digestion and reduces cholesterol levels, and oils that stimulate collagen production. Plumper skin and a longer life? It’s like all our prayers have been answered.
