Ellie Goulding performed at the Australian Football League finals this weekend, and managed to land herself in a good old lip-syncing controversy. As all celeb singers must one day face.
It wasn't just your standard 'she sounds so good she MUST be faking' thing. As she prepared to start her set, music, complete with her vocals, started playing before she'd even put the microphone up to her mouth. What made the whole thing more awkward confusing is that two songs started playing at the same time - 'Love Me Like You Do' and 'Burn'.
Ellie didn't try to play it off and start singing, instead going for the walking around and looking a bit puzzled game plan. Oh dear.
Loads of people reacted by pointing fingers of SHAME and proclaiming 'omg, this is proof that Ellie Goulding is a big old lip-syncer and should go hide in a cave'. But Ellie has now responded to tell everyone that er, no, she's a superb and very talented singer, and doesn't do the lip-synching thing, thanks.
She explained that she had a bit of a cold and had lost her voice, but the main reason for the mess up was a sound technician who played two songs - at the wrong time - instead of one.
Ellie also took to Twitter to reassure everyone that she gives her performances everything she's got. And to tell the naysayers to "bog off mate". Plus a very British use of "erm". Wonderful.
But really, let's get on to more important things. Like food.
